この世に二度と同じ悲劇を起こさないと願ったある日本の僧侶たちの祈りの行脚。2005年7月、僧侶たちは、アメリカンインディアン、宗教や宗派を越えた平和を祈る様々な人々と共に、アメリカ、サンフランシスコから、世界最初の核実験が行われたニューメキシコ州のトリニティサイトまで、砂漠、山、250以上の街を越え、灼熱の中、2500kmの旅をした。60年間、祈りとともに絶やす事なく燃やし続けた大切なものを運んで。広島の原爆投下から採取した原爆の火。すべてが始まった悲劇の原点、グラウンド・ゼロ（爆心地）にその火を戻し、負の連鎖を絶ち永遠に眠らせる。

60年間、一度も開かれることのなかったトリニティサイトのゲイトは、果たして開かれるのだろうか。僧侶たちは、目的地であるトリニティサイトへ、一体どのようにして辿り着けたのか…。

映画「GATE」は、一人ひとりの善意の結晶です。行脚の道中では、アメリカに住む人々が行脚の一行に手を差し伸べ、世界中からも支援がありました。
僧侶達は"トリニティサイト"に向かう道中、様々な人々と交流し、人種や宗教を超えた多くの支援を受け、目的地へ向かいます。お布施をする人、寝る場所を提供する人、メディカルサポートを行う人などもいました。この動きは映画の中だけに留まらず、映画の出演には、アカデミー賞受賞、伝説のハリウッド映画俳優マーティン・シーン氏が、日本語ナレーションを女優、松嶋菜々子さんが協力してくださいました。主題歌『GATE』は、試写会で映画のメッセージに感銘をうけた音楽プロデューサー、小林武史氏が主題歌を製作、アメリカ生まれのシンガー、伊藤由奈さん、ロシアのチャイコフスキーといわれる偉大な指揮者、ミハイル・プレトニョフ氏の3人が揃った日米露の国際コラボレーションによって完成しました。
参加している方々は皆、自分にできる範囲で行動を起こしています。誰かの一歩が次の人の一歩、そしてその人の一歩がまた次の人の一歩へと繋がり、大きな動きとなっています。そのような大切な事にも気付かせてくれる映画です。

-The Epic "Return to Trinity" was filmed as majorDocu-Drama in July 2005 that released as a powerful documentary movie in July 2008 in Japan. Narrated by Nanako Matsushima, with exclusive dramatic footage of the 1600 mile walk across the desert and over Mountains ending with the powerful silent ceremony at the Trinity Site, this movie follows a parallel humanitarian mission of peace.
The story follows the Zen Monks on their path to unity the world by closing a 60 year circle of fear and open a new circle that will empower future generations with the ability to reduce the threat of nuclear weapons...

This epic walk for humanity begins on the northern walkway between Pier 35 and world famous Pier 39, with the Tall Ship Nippon Maru as the back drop. The Japanese community from throughout California will be present, together with people from all over the world who will send off the Monks by walking together with them from Pier 39 to SBC Park. After which, the main caravan of motor homes, walkers, and monks will travel through 250 communities that will carry the "Atomic Flame" together with the Monks for a short distance, to share this historic experience with hundreds of peace-walkers from all over the world as they journey to the Trinity Site. The walk is being filmed and will be shown throughout the world as part of a movie.

The Movie was directed by veteran America-Japanese Film Maker / Producer, and co-executive director of the Global Nuclear Disarmament Fund, Matt Taylor.

Money raised from movie entrance fee, sales of GND Fund Official Goods (*) will benefit the Global Nuclear Disarmament Fund and will be used to destroy surplus nuclear weapons and turn them into bracelets, sold to the general public to generate more money to secure more nuclear weapons.

(*) Scrap metal from the missile will be melted down and turned into accessories such as movie symbolic charms that will be sold to raise more money, to help dismantle more Nukes.
